wicked college humour

found this on tumbler:

For a microcontroller project at college where we had lots of freedom I made an interactive robot.
I called it “female robot”.

It can read RFID, recognize if and how it’s moved and play sound/voice and you can vocally respond to it with numbers and yes/no.

To interact with it you need to wear an RFID tag that identifies you.
In it’‚ default setting the robot rolls around on the floor and says things like:
“I want to have fun tonight”
“Let’s get some drinks.”
“Wanna go to a bar?”
“Let’s go clubbing!”
etc.

If you start an interaction by moving in with an RFID tag there are several possible responses:
It it’s an RFID with a high attractiveness and monetary value the robot wants to be touched by you and carried around. There is lots of fun interaction. It can even demand to be thrown up in the air.

If you have an RFID with a low attractiveness value it demands you to stay away from it, if you don’t and keep interacting with the robot it gets more and more agitated until it starts shouting that it’s getting raped. (…)

RFID tags contain a money value as well. The more you interact, the faster it drains. If it reaches zero the robot too considers you no longer attractice and says things like: “Well, that was fun, but all good things come to an end.” or “You never buy me things and that’s why I will leave you.”

I am now suspended from college.

Stories about relationships with partners who should be in therapy

erzaehlmirnix has a comic out today that shows how prejudices can turn into self-fulfilling prophecies.

This is quite obvious and true.

So why would I feel the need to comment?

Because her example is a borderline woman whose life is getting harder when people know about her borderline disorder.

This is undoubtably true. Any disorder sucks. Borderline is bound to suck big time. And it sucks even more when people treat you differently because they have some expectation as to what borderline means.
This is all understood.

On the other hand…

Go and read some stories of men who didn’t have prejudices against borderline and how their naive “love conquers all” attitude fucked their life up.

If you have to choose between the pre-judgment “I love this woman, she would never harm me.” and the pre-judgment “Borderline Disorder can become really dangerous. I should be on my guard when I have to do with her.” I would recommend the latter every time.

Feminism in times of anarchy

OK, not full anarchy. It still gives you an impression, though.

In Philadelphia some robbers target women and their handbags.

A woman is quoted:

Where are our men? Why are they not protecting us?

and

Men are failing us. I feel as though we are not being protected.

I wonder if these “men” are the same that she needs as much as a fish needs a bicycle, the ones whose relevance in society is vanishing, the ones whose problems, if discussed, are considered garbage.

A ‘political consultant’ is quoted:

When women get pissed, they get things done.

You know what it is that they get done?

urging them to gather with her at 9 a.m. Saturday (…) to call on city officials and also on their communities to protect them

The thing they get done is to nag.

The female contribution to civilization: nagging.

The same ‘political consultant’:

He pointed out that the old code of the streets, that thieves don’t hurt women and children, is no longer honored.

“This new generation, they don’t have a clue,” Glenn said disgustedly.

Don’t these thugs understand the word “Equality”? It means, that it is sort of OK to kill men, but not women!

And Thursday, a man was shot chasing men who snatched his girlfriend’s purse.

The Knight in Shining armour survived. Good for him. I wonder if he’ll try to re-polish it.

Why should priests have no wife?

A thought, probably wrong, but who knows…

In the Spearhead today the topic is Paternalism:

Paternalism grows out of the “big man” societies in which there is a top-down system for wealth redistribution. All wealth flows to the chief, and he doles it out to his subjects

I thought: “If I could do that at all I could only do it if I dedicated my whole life to that one task: Being a fair chief.”

As soon as the chief has any other motivations but Being Fair he would fail.
Try being fair with a wife badgering you with her own agenda.

Is that the reason for celibacy? Keep the gossip and the scheming out of the priests life so that he can treat his flock fairly?

Do I need to say it: Of course not all women are scheming and gossiping. But very many are.
If I wanted to build a Good Church I would want all my priests be free of bad influences and not only some.

“Why I need feminism” … really?

I have wondered for years why people adopt ideologies. What is the charm, the motivation?
This is a new attempt of mine to get to grips with it, by taking a look at the reasons people give for their ideology on http://whoneedsfeminism.tumblr.com.

Victims

I need feminism because my voice as a survivor should be empowered not silenced”

What she wants: “I want my story to be heard”

Understandable.

What she ignores: Her story may well destroy the life of another person. Nobody except her knows if her story is a lie. Too many people lie about stories like hers. It is not a good idea to destroy a person’s life over something that is not true. Nobody but her knows if her story is true. Everyone else needs to be careful.

What other people think

I need feminism so I can get tattoos in places that are considered ‘for tramps.’ Like my hips, breasts, and lower back. My body should be mine to ink as I please.”

What she wants: “I want to do whatever I want (as long as it does not harm others)”

What she ignores: Her body is hers to ink as she pleases. Nobody is preventing her.
On the other hand it is everyone else’s freedom to think what they want. It is not her right to prescribe reactions.

What she probably means: “Do not judge me negatively”

What she ignores: Chosen surfaces are important. When you get tattoos you tell something to the world. That something may be misunderstood and possibly will be disapproved by some.
Free speech comes with free disagreement. There is no other way.

—–

I need feminism because, upon telling people my career plans and that I specialise in felinology, I have been told that I shouldn’t be doing a zoology degree if all I plan to do with it is become a ‘crazy cat lady’. I find it insulting that people feel they can overlook everything I have just said and reduce my worth and passion in my chosen career to an archaic female stereotype.”

What she wants: a) “I don’t want others to make fun of me, even when I am saying something unusual.” or b) “I want female stereotypes to vanish.” or c) “I want a world in which I can get by without a sense of humour.”

Probably a mixture of all three.

What she ignores:
If the reported reaction was indeed not a joke, the other person was an idiot. I do not know how she wants to rid the world of idiots. Euthanasia, perhaps?
If, on the other hand, it was a joke, her entire hopes lies with c). She’s backing the right horse, there. Feminism is working hard to rid the world of humour.
If it is b) the joke question doesn’t enter into it. The open question is if the human mind can actually work without stereotypes.

—–

I need feminism because when I confronted a guy that shamed me for rejecting him, he was praised by both genders, while I was called names and a drama starter.”

Difficult to say, having only her side of the story…

What she wants: “I am never wrong, I never overreact, so I want people to be always on my side.”

What she ignores: Was that really what happened?

—–

I need feminism because when I went to the pharmacy alone to get a pregnancy test, the lady asked me where the baby’s father was. I should not have to feel ashamed to buy a pregnancy test. Ever. ”

What she wants: “Nobody is allowed to give me the impression I was doing something wrong that has to do with sexuality.”

What she ignores: The father of a child is important, indeed. And if having that pointed out shames you, maybe part of you thinks so, too.

—–

I need feminism because I am plus sized and want to be seen as a beautiful individual in the ‘eyes’ of our society!”

What she wants: “I want society to change so I don’t have to.”

What she ignores: Most of the biology of attraction.

—–

I need feminism because… I want to be complimented on my work ETHIC, not my work ATTIRE”

What she ignores: People, women too, are mostly complimented on what is remarkable about them. Maybe her attire is more remarkable than her ethic? Who am I to know.

Gender roles

I need FEMINISM because when I was 7 years old I wanted to go play outside with my shirt off like the boys were doing, but I was stopped because “THAT ISN’T WHAT GIRLS DO”. I didn’t look any different to them at that age…”

What she wants: either a) “Stop treating female sexuality different than male sexuality.” or b) “Stop treating children as if they had a sexuality.”

Since I don’t see what b) has to do with feminism, I’ll assume a)

What she ignores: Heterosexual (i.e. most) men and women DO have quite different sexualities and ways to react to the bodies of the opposite gender. There is plenty of evidence that this is not learned but biologically given.
People who do not learn about these differences or learn too late, run a risk of getting hurt or hurting others.

—–

I need feminism because my friend’s daughter is being called a slut for “having too many boyfriends” throughout the year. SHE’S 11.”

Same as above.

—–

I need feminism because the first time I met my friend’s parents, I was SURPRISED and CONFUSED that her dad stayed at home and her mom is an executive with a six-figure salary.
I was raised in a relatively traditional family—dad works, mom stays at home (though she has a job teaching now)—but this shouldn’t be startling to anyone.”

What she wants: a) “I want things that rarely happen to stop being surprising” or b) “I want that at least every third woman likes to work hard full time (at least 40 hours) on her job and is attracted to a man who runs the home”

Again, only b) has anything to do with feminism.

What she ignores: Working full time to feed your family that you do not see very much because you are working is quite hard. Why would at least every third woman want to do that?

What she hopes for: When women work full time, that means working about 32 hours a week and still earning enough for four.

What she ignores: This is quite unrealistic.

—–

I need feminism because I shouldn’t be told by a six year old that I act like a boy because I don’t like wearing dresses or skirts.”

Same as the tattoo-girl, really.

What she ignores: Acting like a boy is a good thing. 🙂

—–

I need feminism because my gender identity and my gender expression are mine and no one else’s. So no one should be able to say that I am a man if I don’t want them to. I am neither a man, nor a woman, and I don’t care about gender roles!”

What it ignores: How are others to know that it has decided to have no gender? Should we abandon the words “man”, “woman”, “he”, “she” that almost all people identify with just so some small minority has to perform slightly less mental arithmetic?

Bad influences

I need feminism because a local online shop run by a girl sells “Cool Story, Babe” sweaters and hoodies for girls. ”

What she wants: “I want to censor what others are allowed to do.”

What she ignores: Free speech and free thought is good. Censorship isn’t. Even if that means that some people do or say stuff that you do not approve of.

I’m bored now

All of these have a terribly naive view of the world, see no connections but only their own small gripes.
And somehow The Chosen One or Religion or Ideology X will solve all their problems for them so they don’t have to themselves.

But then: Anyone willing to hold up a sign “why I need ..” to the internet would also be willing to have her picture taken with a monkey on one arm and an oversized cheque in the other.
And that says a lot…

Are women better than men? A study in futility…

Here an idiot unfortunate person claims that women can do anything better than men except wreaking havoc and as proof asks us to google “women are better than men”.

The first search result was this and I thought: “well, why not read and check up on that. That looks very much like what the idiot unfortunate person is talking about”.

We find a 14 point list demonstrating why women are better than men.

1. We learn better.
A study done at the University of Georgia and Columbia University found that women are better learners—basically, we have a better approach to expanding our minds.

Here we even find a link to the source, where we read “Why do girls get better grades in elementary school than boys, even when they perform worse on standardized tests?”

Read for yourself. The answer is more or less “They are better behaved than boys, thus less trouble for the teacher and therefore get better grades.”

This means “women are better” and not “teachers are unfair”, mind you.

2. We’re smarter.
According to a study of IQ tests from around the world, women have higher IQs than men.

The linked Telegraph article says the for the last 100 years men tested better in IQ tests but now for the first time in recorded history women came out on top. That by itself does not mean “women are more intelligent than men” in any way. Only if they hold a significant advantage in the next years you could possibly claim that.
It gets more interesting. The Telegraphs cites exactly one expert, one “James Flynn”. That always makes me curious. What kind of expert is he?
It took me 30 seconds of googling to find this page. The author says: “Today I was treated to a talk from James Flynn in Cambridge, England. Flynn is one of my intellectual heroes. I always enjoy his talks, because they are highly provocative and thoughtful. This talk was no exception.”
Turns out, James Flynn apparently is to be taken seriously.
Go read for yourself.

The important quotes:

“Setting the male score at 100, Flynn found that women scored the lowest in Australia (99.5), but in the other 4 nations Raven’s scores varied from 100.5 to 101.5.”

Those are minuscule differences.

“(…)my conclusion is the sexes on the Raven’s is probably dead equal for cognitive factors and there is a very slight female advantage for characterological traits. This is mere extrapolation from what happens at secondary school. You would expect a little female advantage because of temperamental differences.”

So, again: women are not more intelligent than men, not even according to the Cosmo’s source, but simply more disciplined in sitting down.

3. We’re cleaner.
A study from San Diego State University of offices across the U.S. found that men’s desks and offices are germier than women’s. Researchers discovered that men had anywhere from 10 to 20 percent more bacteria in their workspaces than women—and scientists say it’s because they tend to be less hygenic.

Women are 10% more hygienic than men and that makes them better?!?
How subjective can you get? Want to hear the other side of the coin? “Men are far more relaxed in everyday matters and don’t constantly nag and boss everyone around because a coffee cup from Monday is still standing on the desk”
In my book: Men better, Women worse.

4. We interview better.
A new study out of the University of Western Ontario found that women are better at handling the stress of a job interview. Researchers found that, while women get more freaked beforehand about interviewing, we do better in the actual event. Why? We prepare more before the big moment.

“We prepare more before the big moment.” can also be read as “We turn the week before the interview into hell for everyone around us.” Men tend to not do that.
Quotes from the article about the study:
“[Women] would do things like seek social support from loved ones, friends and colleagues about their anxiety and do practical things like practicing mock interviews with their friends. Men, on the other hand, reacted with more maladaptive coping strategies. They would pretend it was not happening, ignore it, watch TV and do things that relieved stress, but hindered performance later.”
So basically when you interview a female you don’t have one person sitting there but her entire support group. Yes, I can imagine that that is a more successful strategy.

Interesting: “Since businesses also have a lot to lose by hiring the wrong person, Feeney warns businesses not to simply look to the interview as the ultimate predictor of future success or failure.”

5. We evolve hotter.
A recent study revealed that women are getting better looking through evolution; meanwhile, men are staying the same.

Do you know what this means?
If you want to procreate and you are a woman, your looks are important. Good looking girls procreate more than ugly ones.
If you want to procreate and you are a man, your looks won’t help you, you will need other qualities.
If you have no idea what those qualitites might be, look here, only don’t take it aaalllll too seriously 😉

6. We survive car accidents more often.
This is sad but true: Men are 77 percent more likely to die in a car accident than women, according to a study done by Carnegie Mellon University.

It seems to be more or less the case that women are more risk-averse which in traffic means less serious accidents.

I would like to see a study however that examines just how much aggression people create in other drivers when they go 40 in a 55 mph area.
Anecdotal, I know, but I personally am most reckless in my driving after spending 10 minutes behind a woman or old man with hat who tries to impersonate a human snail.

Security in traffic on the other hand is not as single sided as feminists like to see the world if you follow this article.

7. We’re better at seeking comfort.
A Mind survey of 2,000 people revealed that women are far more likely than men to talk through their problems. Fifty-three percent of women talk to their friends about what’s stressing them out, as opposed to 29 percent of men.

So women have a more ‘social’ strategy to cope with stress. Where’s the indication that this strategy is ‘better’?
Especially when you consider that it doesn’t do them much good

8. We’re more recession-proof.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 80 percent of those who have lost their jobs since December 2007 have been men. Ouch. This could be because male-dominated fields have been hit the hardest, like manufacturing and finance. That really sucks…but hey, maybe it’s time more men became nurses and educators.

Isn’t this less an example of “We are better” than, in femspeak, “We are more privileged”? Women are the new oppressors and the matriarchy is at hand?
I like the conclusion with the nurses and the educators. Will, in turn, Cosmo-readers be happy to marry a male nurse who earns less then them?
If so, then yes, that would be a win-win. Less dangerous and less endangered jobs for men without the downside of being refused by women for not being more successful than them.
Good

9. We graduate college more often.
We already know that female enrollment is higher than male, but the Department of Education’s statistics reveal that men are also less likely than women to graduate and get their bachelor’s degrees.

Just what the world needs: more bachelors and masters in english literature.
I won’t go into all the affirmative action of the last 40 years that created this outcome. There has already been a lot written about that.

10. We eat healthier.
A survey of more than 14,000 people, conducted by the University of Minnesota, showed that women choose far healthier foods than men.

and

12. We live longer.
Among the world’s population of those who are over 100 years old, 85 percent are women, according to the New England Centenarian Study. In general, women continue to live five to 10 years longer than men as well.

and

11. We have stronger immune systems.
No wonder men act like such babies when they have a sniffle — women really do have stronger immune systems than men!

No discussion about the facts.
Except… How come – if all that is true – that health services spend a lot more money on women than on men?

Women live healthier, women live longer, women have a stronger immune system, a lot more money is spent in health research and education for women than for men.
Isn’t this another example for “Women are privileged” or “It’s preferable to be a woman in our society” than “Women are better”?
Rhetorical.

13. We’re better managers, especially in this economy.
This one is a little controversial, but a slew of experts are confident that women make greater bosses because they are better listeners, mentors, problem solvers, and multitaskers than their male counterparts.

A little controversial, indeed.

In 2003 Norway introduced a 40% female quota in all public company boards, to be enforced from 2008.
Three years down the road a study finds that more women on the board have seriously decreased the value of all those companies.
To be fair the most likely explanation is that those companies were forced to take very inexperienced women to be on the board because not enough competent women could be found. In other words: over the years the effect might get smaller, we do not know yet.

Interesting also this article.
Quotes:
“According to a recent article, men are considered less bullying, egotistical and overbearing compared to ladies”
and
“A study of 2,000 companies in the U.S with more female board members experienced lower profitability.”

A quote from here: “Three quarters of men said they would much rather work for a man than a woman. A quarter of woman polled found their female bosses to be backstabbing and to have poor personal boundaries when it came to sharing their personal lives at the office. Another study found that female bosses were easily threatened, emotionally unpredictable or irritable. Other negative descriptors for the female boss included, ‘moody,’ ‘sharp tongued,’ ‘too cliquey’ and ‘vain.'”
and
“According to the American Management Association, 95 percent of women felt undermined at some point in their career by other women.”

So, women are ‘listeners’, ‘mentors’, ‘problem solvers’, ‘multitaskers’, ‘backstabbing’, ‘poor boundaries’, ‘easily threatened’, ’emotionally unpredictable’, ‘irritable’, ‘bullying’, ‘egotistical, ‘overbearing’, ‘moody’, ‘sharp tongued’, ‘too cliquey’ and ‘vain’

No doubt whatsoever: women are far better bosses than men… 8)

14. We invest better.
A study of 100,000 portfolios showed that women’s investment returns outperform men’s, 18 percent to 11 percent. This could be because women are typically more cautious with their investment decisions and think longer term.

This seems to be true, according to Google’s first result page or this interesting sum-up by a young economic.

What do you know? In the last point they finally found something that women actually can do better.
I say…

Stephen Fry, a red-pill man?

No, just gay. That allows for an undistorted view from the start.

You are so naughty tonight. I thought the girls would be well-behaved, but you’re soo naughty.
